Sweet Bead Studio Blog

On Vacation

studio waterstone

Hello and welcome to another segment of “i heart macro”.    Every year the sight of this big, colorful flower spells out  S U M M E R to me.  I instantly feel transported to a beautiful, balmy island -somewhere exotic.

Well, we have been transported after all.  We packed up, and like many up and down the East Coast, we headed for the beach.  Like to see what it looks like when sweet bead studio goes mobile? 🙂  I am rediscovering that I am not a “light” packer.  This looks bad.  BUT, I am going to be gone for a long time, so of course I brought every thing I could – just in case.

…..and finally reaching our destination = not exactly exotic, but balmy and beautiful!

Hi Cindy, you pack just like me for a vacation, i hope you and all of your boys have an amazing time. I took Jack to London(Ont.) for his second check up post surgery and stopped by Chapter’s to pick up some beading mag’s not available in my area and i picked up a copy of ” Belle Armoire Jewelry Summer 2011″ and saw the challenge you were a part of, your necklace was abso fabu and what a cool challenge it was neat to see how different all the pieces turned out using the same focal.
I was so excited for Jack no more crutches he has to keep the walking cast boot for another month but he can finally start physio after 14 weeks on crutches no weight bearing, he has a long road ahead but maybe can lace up his skates by fall.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful vacation! take care ttfn Lana >^.^<

What’s that old saying – A girl can never have too many shoes or too many crafting supplies?

I’m reading along and I get to the Maryland flag and it took me a minute because I was expecting to see, “Maryland Flag … check!” Have great fun!

I just bought one of these bushes because they remind me of Hawaii where I lived as a child. Your photo is beautiful!

  15. Cristi Clothier on July 3, 2011 at 9:54 am

  21. Tracy on July 3, 2011 at 12:57 pm

Enjoy the beach! Great pics! I totally get the packing. I would do the same if I was gone for more than a week at a time.

    Cindy,
I live by, “you never know what you will need, so be prepared and take it all!”.
I love the pretty color of the flower but the last shot is my favorite! Three more weeks and I will be feeling the sand between my toes! I can’t wait! Have a safe and wonderful time with your beautiful family!

  25. CraftyHope on July 3, 2011 at 2:48 pm

Holy moley. . . did you take any clothes with you or all craft supplies? How did you fit all that and the family in the. . .vehicle? I’m amazed! Of course, if I was going on a good, long vacation I would probably have done much the same. Have a BLAST on your vacation!

  26. Holly on July 3, 2011 at 3:25 pm

Oh phew, I’m so glad to know that I am not the only one to pack for all sorts of crafting emergencies on vacation! My poor husband doesn’t ever know what it is I’ve got in the bag when I hand it to him….and then exagerates big time loading it into the car 😉 I *love* that flower – so yummy looking! But I have to say that last shot is my favorite. Beach vacations are the best! Enjoy yourselves!

  27. Patty Lakinsmith on July 3, 2011 at 4:18 pm

Beautiful flower! It looks like you have your work cut out for you on your vacation! 🙂 Have fun!

  28. Lori Anderson on July 3, 2011 at 6:40 pm

I can’t wait to come and play!!!!!

  29. Cindy on July 3, 2011 at 10:33 pm

I know the sheer volume of craft supplies looks overwhelming/crazy (and I’ll explain that lampshade frame in another post!)….but we do have a minivan and drove 2 separate cars! 🙂

  30. Sandy Richardson on July 4, 2011 at 10:24 am

I do understand packing for a vacation. I am new in thebeading craft, but when we go on vacation the first thing I pack id my watercolor supplies Be Blessed and be safe

  31. diane cook on July 5, 2011 at 8:16 pm

I wish I were stuck in the back of that wagon! What a wonderful summer tradition! You look just like me Cindy, lugging along train cases full of jewelry supplies and Trader Joe bags full of ephemera and journaling tools! And a jewelry box??? Aren’t we a funny lot?
    xo

  32. Laura Twiford on July 6, 2011 at 10:27 pm

Better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it is my motto too! I laughed when i saw the lineup! I think we are all cut from the same cloth! I can just see the beach and sea inspired pieces now! Have a wonderful time

  33. Brandi on July 7, 2011 at 2:15 am

Pretty flowers scream summer to me, too! Bright colors, pretty blooms – I love it. Have a great time at the beach!

  34. Preserve Jewelry Studio on July 7, 2011 at 8:39 am

The beach sounds like a great vacation for 4 active boys. I had to laugh at your craft stash because I do the same thing. The only thing you are missing that I have brought along is my tumbler. I even thought about bringing my butane torch once, but then got paranoid about transporting the butane container in a hot car. Have fun and we all can’t wait to see what you create with all of those supplies!

  35. Christine Damm on July 8, 2011 at 7:54 am

You totally crack me up!!!! A lampshade!! Only I would take something like that on a vacation– you are truly a soul-sister!!! I know you are a Navy wife, but instead of “semper fi” I would say to you “semper paratus” (always prepared). Have a great vacation!!!
