Sweet Bead Studio Blog

Today

Thought I’d share a few pictures from today… while my older sons are off skiing with their Grandparents for the weekend, the rest of us spent the day in our backyard.  Leesburg is practically our backyard, and my favorite local place for hitting a few antique shops and a couple of good bakeries (if you know me, you know those are 2 of my favorite destinations!).

This shop always has wonderful painted furniture pieces.  It seems that every time I stop in, I find myself saying,”this would make a great storage piece for my dream studio…..”

And isn’t this such a sweet picture…looks like a graduating class from 1913 – almost 100 years ago!  I was intrigued by this one, and looked at each face one by one…..wondering who they were and what they were thinking.  Just look at the big white bows worn by many of the girls!  I read somewhere, maybe on a blog, how the writer collected old pictures of a certain theme…say for example, graduation pictures, siblings, beach scenes, weddings, boys with puppies…. I think this would be a fun!   I know for one I do love pictures of sailors – young or old.  Today I saw the sweetest picture of two brothers in their sailor suits…

And this last one…. It’s the Mighty Midget Kitchen.  What a curious little restaurant with an equally interesting history. Would you believe it was created from a recycled piece of a WWII bomber.  I read that there were several constructed by a CA company, but that this is the only one still in existence.

Sunday, January 17th is the opening day for the Richard Salley workshop!!  It would be GREAT to meet you there for this brand new workshop!

Thank you for your visit!

How I loved to explore the antique shops when I lived in Ol’ Virginny! I bought most of my antiques there and in Georgia once upon a time!

    Aw, how fun!
You and I would totally get along because I LOVE wandering aimlessly through random antique and thrift shops and looking at old pictures and thinking exactly what you were thinking with the picture above-Well, I actually love wondering about ANYTHING vintage: Who wore it, what they were thinking when they got it, did it have a good home, etc.
That diner is just the coolest thing ever-I never knew you could go green and upcycle restaurants! LOL

    Hi Cindy~

Just popping by to thank you so much for following me from Dawn’s and for leaving me a comment. I’ve so enjoyed looking around here at your lovely blog. What beautiful work you’re doing with bracelets! Found myself stopping here to comment because of the class photo. That’s the first class photo I’ve seen where everyone looks so interesting and alert and just plain attractive! Ha! Thanks again!
